Robert Johnson was born in Hopewell, Va. and has studied at the Art Students League of New York, where he is a life member. Johnson is a signature member of the Oil Painters of America and Allied Artists of America. He has exhibited his work in numerous one man shows as well as in national group shows.

Johnson is a nationally-recognized artist, whose collectors hail from all around the United States. Mr. Johnson teaches at the Scottsdale Artists School, has held a popular workshop at Brazier Studio, and conducts many other private workshops. Johnson's awards include first places prizes from The Artist Magazine National Competition, the Salmagundi Club and many others. 

Robert's recent accomplishments include winning the 2011 Oil Painters of America Award of Excellence in the Eastern US Region for his painting "Peonies," on view at the Addison Gallery of Cape Cod, MA.

Johnson currently resides and paints in Vienna, Virginia.
